The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Party that is led by opposition Leader Raila Odinga has asked the Jubilee government to provide them with funds for their party politics.
ODM asks government to fund its party nominations
According to ODM chairman John Mbadi, the party has no funds to hire the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission to oversee its nomination polls.
“If the funds come from the government, the better for us. If we are to source our own funding, it may be tricky because the IEBC is very expensive. It is one of the most expensive electoral bodies in the world,” said Mbadi as quoted in the Daily Nation on Tuesday, September 13.
Mbadi further added that if the government provided the funds, it would be a step in the right direction in boosting aspirants’ confidence.
